We can’t deny the hypnotising presence of Jenevieve, the L.A.-based singer from a family of successful ballet dancers with their roots in Cuban, Bahamian, Spanish, Irish and French heritage. It’s evident through the Khufu Najee-directed video for new single ‘Baby Powder’, which flicks through the different aspects of Jenevieve’s personality and she chronicles her first taste of love and subsequent heartbreak. We adore the dreamy mixture of contemporary R&B and neo-soul textures structured around a pulsating bass line. Overseeing it all is Jenevieve’s sensuous voice, which passionately sings of the various emotions of adoration, frustration, regret and nostalgia that we revolve through in that first experience of love. - Hannah Thacker
